Bank holiday gubbins…

Saturday, March 26th, 2005

Over the last few days I’ve been kept pretty busy, working at the shop, going out and about, and working on a commission. It’s a bolt on neck for a member of Project guitar, and I’ve thrown together a page about it for anyone who cares.

On Thursday night I went to Woody’s, and saw Tim and Jamie’s band, End of the New. It was a very solid set, with James’ drumming conspicuously improved (he was throwing in some very tasty tom fills). A good night all in all, apart from a niggling problem with the vocal balance, which seemed to effect every band on the bill. After the set I got the chance to check out Tim’s new duosonic, which I recently worked on for him, installing a Fender Dynamic tremolo and dressing the fret ends. It’s all done now, and looks pretty cool with the new mustang trem, and dual lipstick pickups. It was only along as a back up so I didn’t get to see it in action, but apparently it’ll be christened before too long.

…or more specifically post. Parcels even.

Guy’s mysterious birthday gift arrived this morning, and revealed itself as a totally rocking t-shirt, from here. Pics of me modelling it will be along all too soon, but for the time being, here’s the cute little monster on the front. Cheers Guy!

Also, on Thursday I got a delivery from Craft Supplies, maple and ebony for a custom guitar neck I’ll be building over the next few weeks. As seems to be a long standing tradition (with my orders at least) they made a mistake with the fretwire, so I now have an extra couple of metres of medium fretwire. Still, that’s an improvement on the last order, where they omitted the wire entirely…

It’s my birthday…

…and my lovely brother Pete has finally succumbed to my interminable nagging and created a blog for me. So now I have to pull my finger out and actually post on it.

My main reason for nagging Pete was so I’d have somewhere to put all of the guitar building content I’ve been generating over the last few years. I’ve been a regular poster over at Project Guitar for a few years now, and for several months I’d been using the forum there to post a photo diary of my last guitar build, a chambered Les Paul. Since the free image host I was using tanked, I’ll be re-posting the diary here.

I’d think of something clever to write, but I’m one of two people who know this exists, so I won’t strain myself just yet…
