New Job…
…or to look at it another way; job.
It had to happen eventually, and it has. This morning I accepted a trainee locksmith position with a local locksmith. Hours are long and the pay during training is pretty tight, but the work should be interesting, they seem like a nice bunch, and they were very keen to employ me, even after I initially declined the position.
It’ll inevitably mean having a lot less time to spend on guitar building, but I’ll still keep working on them in my spare time, and posting progress on here.
So there you go, I’m employed, and I start on Tuesday.

Wow, congratulations. Why did you change your mind?
September 28th, 2006 at 1:47 pm
Yeah, did they make you an offer you couldn’t refuse?
September 28th, 2006 at 1:49 pm
Basically, they seemed really keen to employ me, which is nice, and they went to a fair deal of trouble to find out what my reservations were, and to address them. I think if they were trying to get slave labour they’d be more inclined to think ‘piss off’ and go to the next name on the list.
The biggest issue was the hours, and they’re planning/hoping to reduce them, so that staff would get one weekday free each week; that’s a full day to work on my guitar bits, in addition to the time in the evenings and the weekends.
That leaves the money, which is still a bit of a bugger, but should go up after a few months, and be pretty decent in the mid - long term. Only time will tell, but I’m pretty positive about it, and think it’s worth giving it a go.
Are you coming to the pub tonight? I know Pete can’t…. slacker

They threatened to change the locks in his house while he was out one day. >.>
Congrats, Antypants!

Welcome to the sometimes (towards the end of the month) wonderful world of work.
Well done Ant.
I guess you can aways punch through the glass around a door to save time on a job … ;-P

I can just imagine in a few months time in Liv Tyler’s bedroom….
Liv: Who are you and how did you get in here?
Ant: I’m a locksmith… and I’m a locksmith.
Congratulations dude!

What’s an Aerosmith anyway?
September 29th, 2006 at 11:26 am
Someone who makes Aeros.
Obviously.

Argh! Well done, but where does this leave you re: band practice? Remember, stick all your CAN’T DO dates on the calander. It helps me greatly.
Well done though… working sucks I know, so I guess the only well done is appearing employable… after all, no-one really WANTS a job.

Hey - congrats man!
And guy - it seems the issue with glass doors runs strongly in the Setchell family - we heard a most amusing tale in London that starred Pete this time… int that right Ant!?

Actually, I suspect guy is referring to another incident here, which was even more ill advised, and led to a visit to casualty, several stiches, and a scar which is still quite obvious 11 years later. But we’ll say no more about that, lest I feel the need to raise the subject of heart shaped scars…

Fantastic! Does this mean you can come round and change the lock on my front door then?
October 3rd, 2006 at 7:26 pm
Based on todays experience; piece of piss. Just don’t ask me to pick it.

Setch,
Alright mate, good to hear that you’ve found a new job.
My old man is going to give me a load of locksmith stuff from a course he was on a while back. He was going to be a locksmith too but found that a lot of the work is letting people into houses to do things like cut off their gas. Once he found this out, he decided that he didn’t want to do it anymore.
Would youlike me to post it down to you, I don’t need it (although I’m keeping the lock picking set) as I can already pick locks. Well I can pick barrel locks, I haven’t got the stuff for D locks.
Just let me know (although not by PM on Project Guitar as it’s knackered).
See you later mate,
Kaj (ToneMonkey) Adams
