Gobama!

May 8th, 2008
Here is what the www.intrade.com charts for Obama and Clinton look like as of this morning. If you think Barack Obama is going to be the nominee, you can put down $90 and win $100 if he is nominated. If you think Hillary Clinton is going to win it, for $9 you can get $100 back. Its pretty clear what the market thinks.

The lengthy race for Democratic presidential candidate appears, at last, to be over.

Take it easy on the kid, SilverFox316; everybody kills Hitler on their first trip. I did. It always gets fixed within a few minutes, what’s the harm?

Easy for you to say, BigChill, since to my recollection you’ve never volunteered to go back and fix it. You think I’ve got nothing better to do?

Republicans Vote For Clinton

March 18th, 2008

I’m continuously baffled by American politics… take this example:

Many Voting For Clinton to Boost GOP

Conservative radio giant Rush Limbaugh said on Fox News on Feb. 29 that he was urging conservatives to cross over and vote for Clinton, their bête noire nonpareil, “if they can stomach it.”

“I want our party to win. I want the Democrats to lose,” Limbaugh said. “They’re in the midst of tearing themselves apart right now. It is fascinating to watch. And it’s all going to stop if Hillary loses.”

He added, “I know it’s a difficult thing to do to vote for a Clinton, but it will sustain this soap opera, and it’s something I think we need.”

Limbaugh’s exhortations seemed to work. In Ohio and Texas on March 4, Republicans comprised 9 percent of the Democratic primary electorate, more than twice the average GOP share of the turnout in the earlier contests where exit polling was conducted. Clinton ran about even with Obama among Republicans in both states, a far more favorable showing among GOP voters than in the early races.

GAH! How is this even possible? What kind of system are they running over there?

Mission complete

As the primary witness and bag carrier, I can confirm that Sarah completed her charity run today. She started about here:

and 29 minutes later she finished by Blackfriars bridge:

Somewhere quite close to the finish line...

Sarah’s charity run thing

Sarah is planning to run 3 miles for Sport Relief this afternoon.

If you have lots of spare money sitting around in shoe-boxes just waiting for something to spend it on, I’m sure she would be very grateful if you would sponsor her. (The donation page mentions “Paul Travers” by name, as he set up their team. Do not be alarmed, it still counts as sponsoring Sarah).

Seven good things

February 29th, 2008

I have been provoked by the bagelmouse. I must now pick seven good things, pretty much at random.

  1. The Italian sausage stall at Exmouth Market
  2. Ziltoid the Omniscient
  3. Table football
  4. Frivolous use of power tools
  5. All my York Goonies (Facebook photo link)
  6. Fridays
  7. The Field

Also, I’ll be a good thing myself and not tag anyone with this meme.

Also: this.

I CAN HAZ PETRUL?

Seriously, we were waiting behind this guy for fifteen minutes while he tried to pump some petrol through the kinks in that hose. I swore I would have my revenge.

BBC News Player - Residents change road signs

A group of mischievous residents has been altering road signs in Barnet in a attempt to take it up market.

Funny that the BEEB tries to paint this as a cynical attempt to “raise property prices” instead of a humorous jibe by residents at the pound-shop craplitude of their expensive suburb.
