0898z VS Wikipedia

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

Witness Barnet’s “legendary” 0898z make a bid for immortality on Wikipedia.

Unfortunately, they have run into opposition from guardian of truth, and avid Runescape player, J.J.Sagnella and their article is scheduled for deletion.

Anathema @ Brixton Academy

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

Kaz, Ant and I managed to get tickets to the sold out H.I.M. show last night just so we could see Anathema’s support set. It was worth it, they played Sleepless.

The queue to get into the academy was ridiculous and because we really wanted to see the support set we had to shamble twice round the block. The only highlight was this mini pool table jammed against one of the academy windows.

A mini pool table!

In other fascinating “gigs I’ve been to news”, I forgot to mention that Phil very kindly donated me a ticket to go see Canadian rockers Danko Jones at the garage last week.

Rum 'N Brass

Preview copies of Stig’s first full length album are available now! Buy yours today! Tell your friends! Pick up their old EP while you’re at it.

In their own words:

Mini Trumpet ‘n Fuzzy irregular guitars ‘n Dirty Hawaiian slide n big phat mashed up beats ‘n bass ‘n Theremins ‘n Decks ‘n shitty little box’s that make noises ‘n Cornets ‘n shouting n basically all manner of behavioural problems leading to musically dysfunctional & highly addictive fix’s of Stig Noise.

It’s a perfect tasteless and hyper-active antidote to all those tedious, Sunday Times colour supplement guitar bands that seem to be all the rage these days.

Murder Mile @ Ryan’s Bar

Monday, April 3rd, 2006

I spent most of Sunday afternoon watching some moderately embarrassing home videos of Sarah and her family up at her Dad’s house in Stanbridge. I’ll leave it to Sarah to fill in some details in the comments if she thinks they’re fit for public discussion, most probably they’re not.

The amazing zebra man. Somewhat blurry.

Despite missing my stop on a couple of buses from Manor House I managed to get down to Stoke Newington in time to see Murder Mile play a crazy little set in the crammed basement of Ryan’s bar. Jonas was besuited and painted up like a zebra, and (ex-guitarist) Notto reprised his backing vocals for Fuego. Murder Mile will be in a studio somewhere this summer with intentions to release a full length gramophone record.
