New people

Friday, June 30th, 2006

I just added Kate and Phil to “the community”. I deliberately missed Phil off when I set the page up, because he was wittering on about Django every two minutes.

If anyone actually reads the page and can think of anyone they want to add, feel free to send me their RSS feed. I’ll play little hitler and decide if I like them enough to add them. I can’t wait for a really good excuse to ban Tim and/or Jamie for bad behaviour and squabbling.

The touchscreen on my new DS Lite is completely defective, making it rather less entertaining than a wooden commodore 64. I’m off to the post office to send it back to Amazon. Bah.

I just noticed that my media player (Banshee) has built in support for publishing what I’m listening to on

Since I’ll be working from home for the next couple of days you can explore the broad horizons of my deranged musical taste by snooping on my account. On Monday I’ll be back in the office and using my ipod to protect me from the musical depravities of my colleagues.

HBO Salary Disputes

Thursday, June 22nd, 2006

I just stumbled across this article: James Gandolfini puts muscle on “Sopranos” pals.

In case the HBO bosses care about my opinion, let me state it clearly: The Sopranos is nothing without Paulie Walnuts and Silvio Dante.

If you’re hooked on the constant feed of useless information on that page you will be pleased to know it is now Fez-Enhanced TM.

A rather proud blackbird

As we sat around having a lazy, post barbecue Sunday afternoon this blackbird was catching enormous beakfuls of food and taking them back to his hidden nest, then perching proudly to sing about his achievements.

He has good reason to be proud, last week Ant took a picture of him with an adult frog hanging from his beak.

Update: Ant’s pic of frog predation

Ambiguous Wisdom

It’s lovely paragraphs like this one that remind me why I check out every few weeks.

When they asked for impressions of the conference as a whole, I found a microphone in my face. “Triage,” I said, “All this comes down to triage…. That’s the question of the hour.” We were people drowning in a world of facts, touches form other human beings, sensory overload, a constant stream of decisions, and waves of implications. Our scenarios all fixated on dealing with more data, and with making more choices better and faster with less attention to work with. We were talking about our lives right now.

An Israeli Scorpion^W Prawn

On Yahoo! news today: Israeli researchers discover blind scorpion species. Except the animal in all the pictures they released is obviously some kind of prawn or crayfish. Idiots.
