Feminist corollary to Godwin’s law

In my defence, it’s better to lose arguments than avoid them and never find out what an ignorant jackass you are.

Update: Apparently I wasn’t the straw that broke the argument’s back. At Kate’s request she’s been taken off the Feed Me page - a bit of a shame really, as I was enjoying her contributions.

Meh. I actually cobbled together a bit of php to filter out certain people the day she was added.
I call my variation ‘bite me!’ :-)

A more general feature along those lines would be a good addition to the page, but I can’t be arsed. It’d be fairly easy to add some checkboxes next to each name and hide certain people.

With your history at winning friends and influencing people there must be a few people who’d like to filter you out but haven’t got the technical means…

Well I think fundamental criteria for being included in the wonderful world of feed me is that you accept comments on your blog. That’s what a blog is. Otherwise it’s just a webpage full of one-sided diatribes.

  4. Pete Says:

Well that’s not actually a requirement. Since a blog is a bit of personal territory, anyone is entitled to make their own decision about how they run their own. Abusive comments or irritating comment spam are both fair reasons for disabling comments, and I’m not about to force a policy for dealing with them on someone else.

Comments aren’t displayed on the feed me page, so the main criteria are whether a good chunk of people who read feed me are interested in reading a new blog and that the owner of the blog is happy to be included.

I like Pete’s moethod of rule. It’s fair, open and anyone on the Feed Me link can drop in / out anytime.

That’s the true beauty of the internet.

Aside from that, personally, I can see why Kate pulled out. She has pretty controversal views (only sometimes) and doesn’t want a torrent of comments after each post. As Pete said, each to their own.

Still, I try my hardest to keep all comments up. I’ve only ever deleted two that were a little offensive, and that was really to initally show my admin muscle. Grrr. If anyone asks me to remove something, then of course I will. My blog isn’t to offend, it’s more of a forum where I make a gobby comment and then people join in. I kinda like it. Mmm, this is interesting. I might write a post on it.
