Mondo Generator @ Islington N1 Shopping Centre

So, here are the pics from Mondo Generator playing the Carling Academy Islington, a small venue with really bad beer (Carling and Grolsch… yuk). The Academy is right next to Wagamamas in the Islington N1 shopping centre - it didn’t add much for gritty, punk rock, credibility but was convenient for picking up tasty overpriced noodles before the show.

These two red skinned hell spawn accompanied me:

There was a new band line up, with the all star cast of Dave Catching and Brant Bjork missing this time around. This line up had four rehearsals before the show we saw, but they were already playing fairly well. Unfortunately they weren’t as great as the last time we saw them in the Astoria 2, and there were no Kyuss covers this time.

Unfortunately, four rehearsals wasn’t enough to learn all the songs they needed, so five songs in the middle of the show were acoustic numbers performed by Nick Olivieri on his own:

Nick O: Uh…. this is a song about dyin’

Uh.... this is a song about dyin'

Nick O: this is another song about dyin’

This is another song about dyin'

and so on, until the rest of the band appeared to play a pretty rocking end section:

Finally! Rock!
