the hamster

Just seen advert on telly: Richard Hammond has sold his crash story to the Daily Mirror, out tomorrow. Thinking about how the media works, I’m not surprised but did he really have to?

*Update Monday 23rd*
The article says Hammond is a collumnist for the Mirror, so that explains it.

“Lego saved my life,” he said. “I was a Lego fiend when I was eight and, suddenly, it was all I wanted to do again.

“James May sent me a massive tractor with a plough on the back. The doctor was amazed at how good I am at it. It’s really good therapy for a brain injury. Brilliant for spatial awareness.

Do I sense brilliant xmas sales for Lego this year?

…floor. Note to self: steer clear of the evil mexican.

There are many photos on my phone from Friday night, which fill in some of the gaps at least. Looks like it was a better evening than I remember.

draw-a-mouse challenge

Tuesday, October 17th, 2006

Get yourself a pen and a sheet of paper. Without thinking, sketch as quickly as you can a standard two-button (computer) mouse.

In the office this afternoon, my colleague did just that.

Depending on your drawing style (and sense of humour) you might be amused by what you’ve just drawn.

howl’s moving castle

Yay, I finally got round to watching the movie last night. I was not disappointed, though I did find it was quite unlike my (admittedly sketchy) recollection of the book, which I read when I was about 12. I wonder… Have any of my lovely friends got a copy I can borrow? Hint hint.

Must try and get hold of some other DWJ stuff. I remember Fire and Hemlock being rather woo. And what was the other one that was in the same series?

house & cat sitting

Cutting a long story short, Gir’s mum and sister have moved up nooth, leaving the Ruislip house to be looked after by us until the sale finally goes through. We are also — Gir would say most importantly — there looking after his three cats.

Here’s the man of the house, kipping on the bed, resting his paw on my leg. I’m getting used to Goobs taking up bed real estate, and he’s getting used to me. I think we’ll get on just fine.

my university?

Was playing about with google suggest today, as I’m thinking of implementing something similar for a works project, and in my testing I unimaginatively entered “lesley”. It turns out there is a Lesley University in Massachusetts.

hello world

The time has come for me to jump on the bandwaggon and get a blog. Like getting a mobile phone, it will happen to us all sooner or later.

Thanks to Pete for setting this up and hosting me. If it works out well and I actually write regularly, then I’ll probably get my own domain and host so I can play about with the design too. For the time-being this is my WordPress playground. Expect stuff to be broken!
